Our Work
CPAOM serves as the collective voice of Michigan’s childcare providers in Lansing, advocating for the needs and realities of those who care for Michigan’s children every day. To strengthen that voice, we’ve partnered with MainStreet Legislative Consulting to help ensure providers are represented where policy decisions are made.
What is an Association?
An association is simply a group of people united around a shared purpose. For CPAOM, that purpose is supporting and advocating for Michigan’s childcare providers. Legally, associations like ours are formed through a written agreement—such as articles of association—signed and dated by at least two individuals to formalize the organization’s creation.

Our Story
In our research, CPAOM found that over 8,000 privately licensed childcare providers in Michigan lacked a unified voice in Lansing. Local providers had already begun bridging that gap—working with the Grand Rapids Chamber to shape legislation and collaborating with LARA and state leaders through the pandemic to improve rules, regulations, and funding.
CPAOM grew from that same movement: a shared belief that Michigan’s childcare providers deserve consistent representation and a strong, connected voice advocating for our industry’s future.
CPAOM, a 501 (c) 6 is an association founded to engage Michigan Licensed In-Home, Center, Group, Public, Private, Profit and Nonprofit Daycare providers in making changes for the betterment of our industry and those that we serve.
